Description of activity or project: This is part of the Partnership for Advanced Learning in Science (PALS) 5-C volunteer program. The students are planning some long-term observation projects for local elementary school classes. This is preliminary work and no classes are yet scheduled. Observations may include plants and animals found in the quadrats, development of ant colonies in the roads, and phenology and pollinators of several shrubs. Samples of plants will be collected occasionally for identification. Invertebrates may also be temporarily collected.
