Project description: We are comparing plant biodiversity at various sites on the BFS using quadrat and transect methods. Quadrats of 0.25m x 0.25m will be used in the grassland of the east field and the understory portions of the CSS and neck, where individuals will be counted by removing them, in order to calculate diversity indices. Brush and tree species will be measured non-destructively with transects.

Project description: This course provides an opportunity for college students to assist in teaching elementary school children from diverse backgrounds about environmental concerns in our community. It is a component of the Leadership in Environmental Education Partnership (LEEP) designed to provide hands-on lessons in ecological issues, including habitat restoration, pollution prevention, and environmental justice. We examine innovative approaches to outdoor learning, and explore the theory and implementation of effective environmental education.
